Joanne Ellings

A word about the Artist

She is drawn by the sweeping natural curves of the human form, of a coastline, petals and leaves, or waves & water on the sand, and especially to the flightpaths of bees & pollinators. After graduating from Art School in Hobart with a major in painting & ceramics, Joanne took on a teaching career which led her to the Gold Coast. Before children, Joanne worked in acrylic painting, lino printing & mixed media, and was a regular entrant in the Tweed Valley Art Award, gaining success in an acquisitive award.

Joanne took part in a Masters unit at Griffith University, & has exhibited in various Art Teacher exhibitions. In 2017, she met brothers Roberto and Rudolfo Guarnieri, studied the iGuarnieri Studio in Florence, & as an apprentice, assisted iGuarnieri with their commissioned fresco “Poppies” 2019 mural at All Saints Anglican School.
Her work is stylized with depth in fresco plaster & raw pigments, layered with the bee dance curves which are a feature of many works.
