I love Man not the less but Nature more
In the words of poet Lord Byron, Gold Coast based artist Julie Middleton finds a sense of solitude in the language connecting art and place. Origins and current contexts of contrasting landscapes and associated flora have stitched a rich history which has inspired her love for exploring and expressing nature through multiple forms of media. Studying the disciplines of ceramics and textiles (papermaking) at university, Julie discovered her passion for manipulating earthly elements in an attempt to capture nature in serene moments of time.
Julie has integrated her innate attraction to rich colour and tactile finishes with the technique of contemporary fresco. Working alongside Italian fresco artists Roberto & Rodolfo Guarnieri in November 2019, she was introduced to plaster as a media enabling her to merge sculpture and pigment on an otherwise flat surface.
Julie believes her interpreted snapshots of sublime nature which collaborate with a modern take on the versatility of the fresco technique, is reflective of the world she experiences and many yearn for in their daily lives. Nature is a visual poetry.
